FDA and USDA-Inspected Food Manufacturer and Distributor RC Fine Foods Gains SQF Certification

RC Fine Foods is a second generation family-owned FDA- and USDA-inspected food manufacturer and distributor of culinary specialties. RC Fine Foods hired Kellerman Consulting to upgrade their food safety and quality programs to SQF Edition 9 standards.

Our Process

Intake Process and Food Safety Gap Assessment

  • A client intake form was completed by RC Fine Foods and the existing food safety programs, policies, and procedures were sent to the assigned Kellerman Consulting Registered SQF Consultant.
  • The Kellerman Consulting Registered SQF Consultant created an initial draft of the RC Fine Foods SQF Certification Program and he incorporated the existing food safety programs and identified any gaps where additional policies, procedures and training was needed. 
  • The Registered SQF Consultant visited the facility in order to complete an onsite assessment and identify any gaps in documentation and processes.  Findings from this onsite assessment helped guide implementation and further customization of the SQF program. 

Program Development

Documents designed to meet SQF Edition 9 standards were created based on existing policies and SOPs. Separate food safety plans were created for each category of products.

Implementation

Implementation calls were held weekly to review, explain, and tailor each program to fit the needs and operations at RC Fine Foods, to guide their teams through implementation and to train them on all the SQF requirements.

Audit Preparation & Support

  • A second full-day site visit was conducted to complete a full in-person internal audit of the SQF program. 
  • Findings from the Internal Audit helped guide final efforts to prepare for the audit and close all identified gaps in the program. 
  • During the audit, our Registered SQF Consultant was available to offer support and then he helped close out the corrective actions and an SQF certificate was issued by the certifying body.
