SQF Edition 10 Key Updates

SQF Edition 10 was published in March of 2026. Audits for SQF Edition 10 are anticipated to begin on January 2, 2027. SQF Edition 9 is still valid to allow sites time to transition to the new SQF Edition 10 standard.

SQF certified facilities will need to review and revise their documentation to stay aligned with the new SQF requirements and implement those updates prior to their first audit to Edition 10.

Seven of the major changes in SQF Edition 10:

Stronger focus on Food Safety Culture with a documented Food Safety Culture Assessment Plan
Change Management becomes a defined, documented program
Environmental Monitoring becomes more explicitly risk-based and mandatory
Requirements for document control, records, and verification are consolidated into a single section
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) should be specific and measurable
Rigorous assessments of critical training programs are now emphasized
Scoring changes: Core clauses carry heavier weight
