Wegmans Supplier Food Safety
Wegmans has 110 grocery stores located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. Wegmans Suppliers must have Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized certification (or Harmonized GAP Plus+, produce only).
Food Safety Certification Requirements for Wegmans Suppliers:
To supply Wegmans Brand products, ingredients or packaging, suppliers must be certified by a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized certification program (or Harmonized GAP Plus+, produce only).
Kellerman Consulting is not affiliated with Wegmans. View the Wegmans food safety supplier expectations for more detail.Â

Wegmans Additional Food Safety Expectations
In addition to GFSI certification, Wegmans Quality Assurance or Merchandising employees may decide to visit a Wegmans Brand supplier for an on-site assessment (driven by a shift in GFSI score, product complaints, new supplier sites, etc.)

Wegmans Traceability Requirements
In alignment with FDA’s FSMA 204 requirements, Wegmans is now requiring suppliers on FDA’s Food Traceability List (FTL) to provide the following:
- EDI 856 Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN)
- Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC)
- GS1-128 Standard Case Label
- Self-identify items on the Food Traceability List during the Wegmans set up process.
Wegmans will eventually require all suppliers regardless of food type to comply with FSMA 204 expectations. Learn more about Wegmans supplier traceability expectations.
