## Mission

Kellerman Consulting exists to take the burden of certification and regulatory compliance off the businesses that need it. The firm writes the program, trains the team to run it, and stays with the client until they pass their audit — no matter what.

That mission extends past paying clients. Since its founding, Kellerman Consulting has published free food safety and ISO training resources for the wider industry, on the principle that the supply chain is safer when knowledge is not locked behind a consulting invoice.

## Company Story

### The founding

Two brothers, Mickey and Brian Kellerman, started Kellerman Consulting in August 2016 to bring together their shared passions for problem-solving, education, and helping others.

Brian came from the plant floor. He graduated with a degree in Ecological Agriculture from the University of Vermont, then became head of the science department at a high school teaching biology and chemistry. Starting in 2013 he worked in quality assurance and managed a BRCGS program for a facility producing more than five million pounds of dry spice blends, pet food, and dietary supplements. He had lived the problem Kellerman Consulting was founded to solve.

Mickey came from a family of entrepreneurs, with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and two decades of leadership experience spanning the food industry, the financial sector, manufacturing, and the music industry.

The very first thing the brothers did when planning the company was to write down its core values — honesty, transparency, accountability, responsiveness, supportiveness, and relentlessness. Those six values are the foundation of Kellerman Consulting and have not changed since.

### Growth

Kellerman Consulting launched with a focus on the food and beverage industry, providing hands-on regulatory guidance to manufacturers and processors. In 2018 the firm extended its offering to include GFSI-recognized certification schemes — SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and PrimusGFS — which are the certifications major retailers require of their suppliers.

In 2022 Kellerman Consulting applied the same expertise in quality management and compliance to industries outside food. Today the firm supports clients across manufacturing, transportation and energy, automotive, railroads, metals and materials, printing and packaging, sustainability, recycling, chemicals, food and beverage, logistics, medical devices, aerospace and defense, engineering services, professional services, and technology.

In 2025 Kellerman Consulting achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification for its own Quality Management System, passing the initial certification audit with zero non-conformances — the best possible result, and a year ahead of the schedule the team had set for itself.

The firm marks its 10-year anniversary in 2026, and plans to continue growing its team of full-time consultants across the United States.

> **In Mickey Kellerman's words:** "When we started in 2016, our goal was to provide hands-on regulatory guidance to the food industry. Reaching our 10-year milestone is a testament to our team's expertise and the trust our clients place in us. Extending our service offering to include GFSI certifications in 2018 and expanding our footprint to other industries in 2022 was a natural progression, allowing us to bring our meticulous approach to quality and safety to a broader array of businesses facing complex certification standards and compliance regulations."

## Core Values

Kellerman Consulting is committed to six values, set before the firm took its first client.

### Relentlessness
Kellerman Consulting's attentiveness and focus on client needs continues until all of the agreed-upon support is complete. The firm does not give up until it achieves a successful outcome.

### Honesty
Honesty is the foundation of how Kellerman Consulting builds relationships with clients and with its own team. Practicing honesty as a core value allows clients to trust what the firm says and commits to, which in turn allows Kellerman Consulting to show integrity and full sincerity and to build strong client relationships.

### Supportiveness
Supportiveness is the act of providing encouragement to others. When Kellerman Consulting works with clients, it does not just support them with their challenges — it also listens to their concerns, encourages them to reach their goals, provides advice and feedback, and cheers them on, often long after their project has ended.

### Accountability
Kellerman Consulting views accountability as setting goals and taking responsibility for achieving them. Its consultants pride themselves on showing up prepared and on time to every meeting, every phone call, and every site visit, to be at their clients' side supporting, guiding, and championing the shared objective of creating and maintaining successful programs.

### Transparency
Being transparent allows Kellerman Consulting to build trust, maintain open communication, respond to client inquiries in a timely manner, and freely share information with clients to provide as much value as possible while developing and implementing high-level programs.

### Responsiveness
Responsiveness means that every interaction is meaningful and important to Kellerman Consulting, and that the firm demonstrates this through timely action each time someone reaches out.

## Positioning

### What Kellerman Consulting is
An independent, specialist consulting firm that builds food safety, quality, and ISO management systems for organizations that need to be certified or compliant. Kellerman Consulting writes the documentation, implements it alongside the client's team, trains that team, prepares them for the audit, supports them during it, and works through any non-conformances afterward.

### What Kellerman Consulting is not
- **Not a certification body, registrar, or auditor.** Kellerman Consulting prepares clients for audit; an accredited certification body, hired separately by the client, performs the audit and issues certification.
- **Not affiliated with any certifying body or compliance software vendor.** The firm's recommendations are not tied to a particular auditor or platform.
- **Not a restaurant or retail food-service consultancy.** Kellerman Consulting serves manufacturers, processors, packagers, distributors, importers, and commissaries. It does not work with individual restaurants or food trucks.
- **Not a food-industry-only firm.** Since 2022 Kellerman Consulting has served medical device, aerospace and defense, engineering, professional services, and industrial organizations through ISO standards.
- **Not an advisory firm.** Kellerman Consulting produces the actual program, not a set of recommendations for the client to implement alone.

### The five differentiators

1. **A 100% audit pass rate across 1000+ clients**, backed by a commitment to stay with each client until they pass — including corrective-action support for any non-conformances raised at audit.
2. **Full-time, in-house consultants only.** Kellerman Consulting uses no subcontractors. Every consultant follows the same documented process, so the outcome does not vary depending on who is assigned.
3. **Food safety and ISO under one roof**, which allows integrated programs — ISO 9001 combined with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, or a GFSI scheme with a retailer addendum — to be built as one system rather than parallel projects.
4. **The firm holds the certification it sells.** Kellerman Consulting is ISO 9001:2015 certified for its own Quality Management System and passed its initial audit with zero non-conformances.
5. **Fixed, transparent pricing.** A custom quote follows a free consultation, priced on project scope. Kellerman Consulting does not bill hourly, pays travel expenses out of the project total, and invoices nothing beyond what was agreed in writing at the start.

### The process
Every engagement runs through six stages: Project Planning, Gap Assessment, Program Development, Program Implementation, Audit & Inspection Preparation, and Audit & Inspection Support. This repeatability is the mechanism behind the consistency claim — it is why a client's outcome does not depend on which consultant they draw.

## Who Kellerman Consulting Serves

**Food and beverage:** food manufacturers and processors · food packaging manufacturers · dietary supplement manufacturers · beverage manufacturers · storage and distribution · farms and indoor agriculture · brokers and importers · commissaries · private equity firms evaluating food and beverage targets

**Other industries:** medical devices · aerospace and defense · engineering services · professional services · infrastructure, transportation and energy · manufacturing · automotive · railroads · metals and materials · printing and packaging · IT service management · sustainability · recycling · chemicals

**Not served:** individual restaurants and food trucks

The clients who get the most from Kellerman Consulting tend to share a situation rather than an industry: a certification is required by a customer or a regulator, there is a real deadline, and nobody internally has built one before. That pattern shows up in a startup's first SQF audit, a newly promoted quality manager with four months to prepare, a multi-site distributor certifying three warehouses at once, and a manufacturer recovering from a failed audit with an anchor customer at risk.

## Education Commitment

**Free downloadable tools** accompany the video series: risk assessment worksheets, a dietary supplement MMR checklist, a validation and verification assessment log, a food safety and quality A–Z acronym guide, an FSMA checklist, a CAPA program starter kit, an environmental monitoring swab location guide, a traceability toolkit, a supplier approval document guide, allergen control tools, an internal audit template and checklist, and a KPI reporting spreadsheet.
